Total, Dong join forces in UK

Total E&P UK Ltd. and Dong Energy are moving forward on a joint development of West of Shetland fields Glenlivet and Edradour.

The joint development will tie-in to the Laggan and Tormore infrastructures where Total expects to add reserves of more than 65MMboe. Dong says both fields are expected to contribute to production in 2018.

In addition, Dong is divesting 5% of the Edradour field to Total that will leave Dong with 20% participation in the four UK West of Shetland fields: Laggan, Tormore, Edradour and Glenlivet.

In August, Dong announced a delay of first oil for the Laggan-Tormore project to the end of 2014 to 2015. The Laggan and Tormore development includes the two gas condensate fields located about 125km northwest of the Shetland Islands, in 120-600m water depth. The fields are being developed with a subsea tie-back to Sullom Voe on the main Shetland Island.

Laggan was discovered in 1986 and Tormore in 2007, with development approval granted in 2010. Plans include produced hydrocarbons to be transported to Sullom Voe using two 143km 18 in. import flowlines at a peak gas rate of 500MMscf/d.

FMC Technologies is supplying the subsea production system and Subsea 7 is responsible for the umbilicals, subsea tie-ins and commissioning all pipelines.

Edradour is in about 300m water depth located in Block 206/4a, 75km northwest of the Shetlands. The Edradour discovery was put on hold in 2013, due to cost increases, however a reduction plan put it back on track. According to Total, it will now form part of what will be a “new strategic hub” West of Shetland. Edradour is expected to reach a plateau of 17,000boe/d.

Glenlivet is in approximately 435m water depth located in Block 214/30a, 90km northwest of the Shetlands. Total says they are studying the possibility of developing the reservoir with two wells and a 17km production pipeline tied back to the Edradour development.

Total is the operator of the fields with an 80% interest. Dong carries the remaining 20%.
