Lundin Petroleum has started drilling exploration well 6405/12-1 in production license 584 on the Lindarormen prospect.
Lindarormen is about 150km northwest of Kristiansund on the Norwegian coast and about 80km northeast of the Ormen Lange field.
The main objective of well 6405/12-1 is to test the reservoir properties and hydrocarbon potential of Paleocene sandstones in the Rås Basin. Lundin Petroleum estimates the Lindarormen prospect to have the potential to contain unrisked, gross prospective resources of 194MMboe.
The planned total depth is 3280m below mean sea level and the well will be drilled using the semisubmersible drilling unit Bredford Dolphin. Drilling is expected to take approximately 60 days.
Lundin Norway is the operator and has a 60% working interest in PL584. Bayerngas Norge is partner with 40% working interest.
