Orlando is a single well development approximately 2.5sq km, that will tieback to CNR’s Ninian Central platform (NCP).
Development for Orlando, located in UKCS Block 3/3b on the west flank of the Viking Graben, consists of reentering the suspended 3/3b-13z well and drilling a 3000-foot horizontal section to be completed with dual electric submersible pumps (ESPs). It has 2P net reserves of 3.8MM boe and initial rates at 10,000.A subsea pipeline, power supply and control umbilical will be laid between the wellhead and NCP approximately 10km to the southwest of the Orlando field.
According to partner Atlantic Petroleum, integrated planning is already at an advanced stage to begin the installation of brownfield equipment on NCP in 2015. Subsea installation and drilling activities are planned to begin in spring 2016, with first oil planned to be delivered by the end of 2016.
“This is the final step in the commercial arrangements to allow the field development to progress towards first oil production before the end of 2016,” says Ben Arabo, Atlantic CEO. “Orlando is an important part of our growth plans; we expect to more than double our current production by the end of 2016.”
The manufacture of the Orlando line pipe is complete, as well as the power cables for the ESPs. Umbilical manufacturing is underway for delivery in early 2016 and assembly of the control system and Xmas Tree are ongoing.
Iona is the operator and holds a 75% interest with partner Atlantic (25%).
After Orlando, the Kells discovery in next for the duo. Work is on-going to resubmit a field development plan this year, with first oil planned in late 2016 or 2017. The plan is to develop the field as a subsea tie-back to CNR's NCP.
