MSL Heat Transfer, the radiator and cooler design, manufacture, repair and refurbishment provider, is Glacier sixth acquisition. As a result, the energy services group will reorganize into four divisions to augment its service offering to its customers across the international energy sector.

The group’s new divisional structure supports the focus on its companies’ core capabilities, delivering services for energy infrastructure onsite in any global location, and at its workshops across the UK and in Southeast Asia, across four key complementary work areas.

Roberts Pipeline Machining and Site Machining Services delivers onsite machining; non-destructive testing (NDT), provided by Professional Testing Services; heat transfer repair and refurbishment services through Ross Offshore and newly-acquired MSL; and weld overlay for pressure control equipment from Wellclad.

The group supports operators and service companies on projects from the commissioning phase to full in-operations lifecycle of oil and gas platforms and vessels, wind farms and infrastructure in the energy and petrochemical industries.

Glacier Energy Services, formed in 2011, has a staff of 215, with group turnover for the financial year 2014 expected to exceed US$40.6 million. Its businesses operate from industrial premises in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Dalgety Bay and Methil in Fife, Newcastle and Singapore.

In August 2013, Glacier acquired Aberdeen-based Ross Offshore International oilfield specialist, further extending its onsite specialist technical support offering to the energy industry. With the acquisition, Glacier established an offshore division headquarters at Ross Offshore's modern facility in Aberdeen.

Following the acquisition, Glacier has a combined turnover of more than $24.4 million, with a global staff of 110 people across its operational hubs in Glasgow, Newcastle, and its recently-opened Southeast Asia base in Singapore.

Glacier's other companies – Roberts Pipeline Machines, Site Machining Services (SMS), and Wellclad – will retain the Ross Offshore brand while operating as part of the wider group. It’s Glacier's fourth acquisition, following the purchase of specialist onsite engineering provider Site Machining Services in June 2012.
