Vaalco Energy has resumed production from the Etame Marin block after completing maintenance work on its leased floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.
The vessel had the fire and gas detection systems upgraded along with other routine maintenance work.
The block was shut-in during 23-29 August to facilitate work on the FPSO. Vaalco expects production to increase as well operations are stabilized.
In addition, platform jackets are now in place for both of two new production platforms, located in approximately 80m of water. The platforms are for the additional development of the Etame Marin block. They are in place and adjacent to the Southeast Etame and North Tchibala fields. Vaalco says leg piles for the Southeast Etame/North Tchibala platform are currently being installed to secure the jacket to the seabed.
Vaalco reports the deck sections of both platforms are currently being towed to Gabon with arrival expected in early September 2014. The deck sections are currently located off the coast of Brazil, approximately 2000nm west of their final destination in the offshore waters of Gabon.
Vaalco expects the deck sections to be coupled with the jacket sections in late September. Vaalco says drilling of the first development well from the new Etame field platform is scheduled to begin in mid-October, subject to platform readiness and the arrival of the contracted Transocean Constellation II jackup rig.
Vaalco began construction on two production platforms in the Etame Marin block in February 2014.
