Dolphin Geophysical has been awarded a contract extension of approximately 50 days on an ongoing 3D seismic project in South America.

"We are very pleased that our good performance in South America this year is providing us with additional opportunities to increase our backlog and maximize our vessel utilization for the 2014 acquisition season," says Andy Phipps, Dolphin president.

The contract will commence in 4Q 2014.

Dolphin’s M/V Sanco Sword is currently conducting a 3D seismic survey on Frontier Exploration License (FEL) 1/14 (Spanish Point South) in the northern Porcupine Basin, offshore Ireland that’s being operated by Cairn Energy subsidiary Capricon Ireland. The project is in 300-650m water depth, about 140km off the west coast of Ireland.
