Tunisian Authorities approved Australia’s ADX Energy Ltd.’s two-year extension of the exploration period for the Kerkouane permit offshore Tunisia. The exploration period is now set to end on 21 February 2016.
The ADX operated contiguous Sicily Channel blocks, Kerkouane (Tunisia) and Pantelleria (Italy), contain the appraisal and exploration prospects such as Dougga West, with its several targets and the Dougga gas condensate field.
Shell and ADX acquired about 2000sq km of leading-edge Geostreamer (dual sensor) technology 3D seismic surveys in their respective Tunisian and Italian licenses.
ADX has identified a number of large, drillable prospects in its Kerkouane block. This trend contains large thrust related anticline prospects such as the ones identified in ADX’s Kerkouane block next to the ADX-operated Dougga gas condensate discovery, already proven to be successful by the Nilde oil field, which has produced about 25MMbbl of light oil from a high-productivity carbonate reservoir.
ADX is the operator and owns 100% interest in the Kerkouane license area, which contains Dougga. Prior to drilling the next well, ADX is seeking to divest part of its interest.
Other companies currently exploring Tunisia include EnQuest, MedcoEnergi and Circle Oil.
