Marathon picks Aibel for engineering

Aibel has been awarded a framework agreement by Marathon Oil Norge for the supply of front end engineering design (FEED) and study assignments.

The first assignment has already been specified - a study to clarify upgrade solutions on the floating production, storage and offloading vessel Alvheim with regard to possible future connection of existing discoveries in the Alvheim area, offshore Norway.

The contract enters into force immediately, and will be renewed on a yearly basis until eventual termination.

“It's always difficult to land contracts with new customers. For this reason we are very pleased with the confidence Marathon Oil is placing in us,” says Trond Aunan, VP Studies and FEED in maintenence, modifications and operations with Aibel.

The framework agreement will be managed from Aibel's headquarters in Stavanger. It is also here work on the specific projects in the contract will be carried out.

The Alvheim project will occupy around 15 Aibel employees in Stavanger. The study kicks off in mid-August this year with an expected delivery in October/November 2014.
