CNPC, CUPET enter agreements

China National Petroleum (CNPC) and Cupapetroleo (CUPET) signed a framework agreement to increase crude output and production sharing and a cooperation agreement on drilling services in Havana, Cuba on 22 July.

Under the agreements, CNPC will help CUPET to lower operation cost of some existing oilfields and enhance the crude production and recovery. The agreements will also provide 9000m drilling rigs and supporting services to facilitate the exploration and development of Cuba's offshore oilfields.

Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Relations hosted a delegation focused on the safety and potential environmental effects of offshore oil drilling earlier this year.
