Huntingdon introduces purging systems

Huntingdon Fusion Techniques Ltd. announced it has developed a line of low-cost pipe weld purging systems for purging pipes and tubes that need to go through high temperature thermal cycles before, during and after the welding process.

When welding pipes and tubes that need to go through such cycles, it is usually important to purge the insides with an inert gas, to prevent oxidation and scaling and to ensure a good internal weld profile.

In many cases there is very little room to maneuver weld purging systems so that they are protected from the high temperatures associated with the pre/post-weld heating processes, forcing operators to purchase more sophisticated heat protected systems. However, in some cases, there can be sufficient length in the tube or pipe structure, that a normal weld purging system can be used.

Huntingdon Fusion Techniques Ltd has been able to use its development team to manufacture a variety of different weld purging systems for such tubes and pipes, where the inflatable dams can be kept outside of the heated areas. Special high temperature resistant gas hose material ensures that the purge dams stay inflated, firmly sealing the purged void to protect the weld throughout the whole thermal and welding cycles.

The PurgElitePipe Weld Purging System with a hose fitted with IntaCallow profile purge valve technology and the PurgeGatedevice guarantees that the inflatable dams cannot burst due to over inflation. The PureElite is available for pipes of diameters ranging 1-24in. The associated QuickPurge II Inflatable Tube, Pipe, and Pipeline Weld Purging System, range is 5-96in.
