Today's Baker Hughes North American offshore rotary rig count listed 60 rigs operating this week, up 3 rigs from a week ago and up 9 rigs from a year ago (18% year-over-year increase).
The majority, 58 rigs, are working in the Gulf of Mexico, up 2 from last week and up 10 from a year ago.
In Canada, two rigs were working off Newfoundand and Labrador, down from three rigs the prior two weeks. The Canadian offshore count only reached five rigs in Aug-Sept 2013, the highest since April 2007.
In addition to the 60 rigs offshore North America this week, 14 were working in inland waters, up 1 from last week, but down 12 from a year ago (46% year-over-year decrease).
