ISN eyes Aberdeen growth

Published

Oil and gas IT services firm ISN Solutions has secured £4.6m investment from Aberdeen-based private equity firm Maven Capital Partners as part of a growth plan.

Entrepreneur Tom Smith, founder of telecommunications firm Nessco (pictured), will also join the business as Chairman and the firm will open an Aberdeen office.

ISN was launched in 1999, in London, and has £6 million sales, from consultancy, project management, and outsourced IT services, to upstream exploration and production clients.

Smith founded Nessco in 1980 and built it into a global provider of telecommunications services to the oil and gas industry before selling the firm to Houston-based RigNet in 2012.

ISN currently employs about 50 staff and offers a range of IT services to its clients, from the day to day administration of outsourced systems, including remote monitoring and a service desk function, to much higher level strategic advisor and project management roles which often involve the design and installation of the entire ICT infrastructure. The management team plans to open an Aberdeen base to be at the heart of the oil and gas supply chain, whilst retaining its consultancy capabilities in London.
