Masirah Oil Ltd. has said hydrocarbons were found in several formations during exploration well drilling in Block 50, offshore Oman.
The well was Masirah's second in Block 50, and reached afinal depth of 3000m in the Cambrian formation.The well was drilled using the jackupdrilling rig Aban VII.
The Block 50 Oman Concession covers 16,903sq km and is in the south eastcoast of the Sultanate of Oman.
Hans Lidgren, Masirah's chairman, said: “The discovery of hydrocarbons in second explorationwell is a significant step towards the deepening of our knowledge and understanding of theoffshore geology in the east of Oman, where no discovery has been made before.The resultsfrom this well are vital for the future development of this block."
Masirak's shareholders Hibiscus Petroleum Berhad, based in Malaysia, were responsible for the drilling campaign, with partner PETROCI, the National Oil Company of Côte D`Ivoire, and Rex International Holding,Singapore, responsible for the use of Rex Virtual Drilling technology, said Marisrah.
