Aker Solutions recently completed the sale of its mooring and loading systems to Finland-based Cargotec’s subsidiary, MacGregor.
The unit, known for the Pusnes brand name, provides mooring equipment, loading and offloading systems, as well as deck machinery for the global offshore and shipping markets.
The agreement was announced in October 2013, with Cargotec agreeing to acquire the init for about US$243 million. The unit will be consolidated into MacGregor's results as of 1 February 2014.
"The addition of the mooring and loading systems, team members, technologies and products further positions MacGregor as a true leader in the marine and offshore equipment market,” Eric Nielsen, president of MacGregor said. “When combined with our other MacGregor products and the expertise of the recently acquired Hatlapa marine equipment business, we can now offer customers the most complete range of high performing equipment and systems.”
The transaction is structured as a share sale, and is set to be completed in 1Q 2014, pending approval from competition authorities. Leif Haukom, who heads the business area at Aker Solutions, will continue to lead the unit after the transaction.
