Ambitious companies and individuals hoping to be recognised amongst the best and brightest that the UK offshore industry has to offer have been granted one extra week to submit their entries.
The Offshore Achievement Awards have a 27 year history of celebrating success within the UK offshore industry, in categories which include safety innovations, new technologies, collaborative working and individual achievement. The awards were re-launched in 2011 by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen Section.

SPE Aberdeen board member Ian Phillips, director of business consultancy Pale Blue Dot Energy Limited, said: “We have seen a significant level of interest in this year’s awards, particularly after the 2013 ceremony which was the largest in the history of the awards and attracted an audience of more than 530 people.
“We want to ensure that everyone interested in entering the awards has sufficient time to submit an entry and we hope that extending the deadline will assist with this.”
Annual competition to design the Offshore Achievement Awards trophy launched.
SPE Aberdeen also launched its annual OAA trophy design competition last month, with design students from the Robert Gordon University Gray’s School of Art again competing to design trophies which will be presented to winners on the evening of the awards.
This year, six students have been shortlisted by judges after showing creativity and flair in their trophy design concepts. The students will now work to develop prototypes of their designs, with the winner being selected to produce the awards trophies.
Mr Phillips said: “SPE Aberdeen is committed to encouraging young people to take an interest in the oil and gas industry and this is a fantastic way to engage with students who aren’t normally involved with the sector.
“The awards design competition has proven to be extremely successful since it was launched in 2011 by SPE Aberdeen to coincide with the re-launch of the OAA awards. The standard is very high this year and will make choosing the winners difficult. The judges are very much looking forward to seeing the designs progress to the next stage of the competition.”
The new deadline for companies and individuals interested in entering the Offshore Achievement Awards is Monday, 9 December 2013, with the award ceremony taking place on Thursday, 20th March 2014.
