Dana Gas awarded Interserve plc’s Adyard Abu Dhabi a US$17 million contract to construct an offshore platform for the Zora offshore field development project.
Zora is located in water depths of 24m and spans the territorial waters of Sharjah and Ajman, UAE.
Dana identified the platform as an important element in the overall scope of the Zora project, totaled at $160 million. Zora’s reserves will be extracted through an offshore facility and transported via a 35km subsea pipeline to an onshore gas processing facility, located in the Sharjah area.
In November 2012, Dana and the Sharjah and Ajman governments signed agreements to jointly develop the shared field located around 40km off the coasts of the two emirates. The deal – of which– included a unitization agreement to manage the shared field, gas sales and purchase agreements, and the joint operating agreement.
The company expects to start delivering 40 mcfd of natural gas in the first half of 2015, Dana CEO Patrick Allman-Ward said.
“This contract is the first strategically significant development towards bringing the Zora gas field onstream,” Allman-Ward said. “The appointment of Adyard Abu Dhabi marks the start of a commitment program with awards for contracts for other aspects of the work to follow in due course.”
Dana Gas has 100% working interest in and operates the Zora development project. The company also operates gas and other hydrocarbon facilities in Egypt and the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and has an onshore gas processing plant in Sajaa, Sharjah. The Zora facility will be the company’s first operation located in Sharjah, where Dana Gas is headquartered.
