First gas at Jasmine

First gas has been produced from the Jasmine field in the central UK North Sea.

Jasmine, operated by ConocoPhillips, is the largest discovery to come onstream in the North Sea since the giant Buzzard field began production in 2007, according to BG Group, which holds 30.5% interest in the field.

It was discovered in 2006 by ConocoPhillips, and is expected to produce, once on plateau, about 40,000 boe/d net to ConocoPhillips, which holds a 36.5% stake in the field, and about 30,000 boe/d net to BG Group. Eni holds the remaining 33% interest.

The triple-jacket Jasmine development comprises a 24-slot wellhead platform with a bridge-linked accommodation and utilities platform, a 9km 16-in. multi-phase pipeline bundle and a riser and processing platform bridge-linked to the existing Judy platform.

The field is a high pressure, high temperature gas-condensate reservoir, in Blocks 30/6 and 30/07a of the central North Sea, about 9km west of the Judy platform.

The Jasmine facility has capacity to produce 140,000 boe/d.

Jasmine is the fourth field to be developed under the ConocoPhillips J-Block license, following Judy, Joanne and Jade.

AMEC was awarded the detailed engineering and procurement for work on the Judy platform and the hook-up and commissioning of Jasmine in 2010. At the time, first production was anticipated to start in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Spain's Dragados Offshore had the contract to build two decks, weighing about 6000-ton each, for the development. Italy's Rosetti Marino supplied the jackets.

Subsea 7 was contracted to perform engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning of two 4.1km pipeline bundles.

Each bundle contains a 16-in. production pipe inside a 20-in. sleeve pipe, housed within a 35-in. outer carrier pipe, with a subsea isolation valve, towhead, and interconnecting towhead at each end.
