Esbjerg move for Welltec

Intervention and completions firm Welltec is to set up factory in Esbjerg, Denmark, as an offshore supply base for its operations in the Danish, German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea and onshore central Europe.

The new facility, which will initially employ 25-35 people, will also increase production of the company’s intervention and completion products for export globally.

Due to open in 2014, the facility will comprise about 6000m sq sq production area and 1250sq m office space on a 21,000sq m site on Kjærsing Ringvej.

Welltec was founded by Jørgen Hallundbæk in 1994, in a small office in Allerød, Denmark. This year it opened offices in Houston as a headquarters for North and South America and the company has more than 1000 staff. In 2012, the company turnover was DKK 1.7 billion.

The move into Esbjerg has been welcomed locally. Esbjerg Business Development Centre chairman John Lesbo it will help strengthen Esbjerg’s position as “the EnergyMetropolis of Denmark”.
