Serica in Morocco, Namibia drilling

Serica Energy has said a drilling campaign will start offshore Morocco in October.

Drilling will be carried out on the Foum Draa and Sidi Moussa blocks in October, and H1 2014 respectively.

The well on the Foum Draa block (operated by Cairn Energy, Serica holding 8.3333% equity interest) is targeting the Fig prospect with an operator-estimated 142MM boe gross mean unrisked prospective resources. Serica has a 5% stake in the Sidi Moussa block, operated by Genel Energy.

Serica is also a partner in drilling planned offshore the UK in H1 2014, on the Centrica-operated East Irish Sea Doyle prospect, 20% equity owned by Serica.

It said work was ongoing to identify partners to accelerate drilling on the Boyne (100% owned) and Muckish (50% owned and operated) prospects.

In Namibia, well planning activities have started in preparation for drilling on blocks in the Luderlitz basin, 55% owned and operated by Serica, with BP holding an option to become operator, in late 2014/15.

Serica had been working on plans to tie back its UK North Sea Columbus field to a new bridge linked platform to the Lomond platform, cancelled by Lomond operator BG Group earlier this year.

Serica says it is working on plans, focusing on a direct tie-back to Lomond, which would enable it to reach project sanction early in 2014.

Elsewhere in the UK, Serica said in Block 22/19c (15% Serica interest), JX Nippon had identified a significant deep high pressure high temperature potential.  Serica has a full carry up to and including the drilling of an exploration well.

In Norway, the operator of the Bream field had indicated plans to submit development proposals in early 2014.
