Technip has joined forces with South African energy and chemicals firm Sasol to offer front-end engineering services on future Sasol gas-to-liquids (GTL) projects.
The new alliance will also enable Technip to be part of the execution of GTL projects with Sasol.
Sasol has developed a hydrocarbon synthesis reactor technology, with help from Stone & Webster, based in the US, acquired by Technip in August 2012.
Technip’s operating center in Rome will lead the management of the alliance. The move will include strengthening a long-standing relationship between the Technip Stone & Webster Process Technology center in Boston, Massachusetts, with Sasol Technology, for the hydrocarbon synthesis technology section, said Technip.
GTL technology is a process for converting natural gas into petroleum products, such as naphtha and diesel fuel.
