EnQuest Producer scope increased

First oil on EnQuest’s Alma/Galia project is now scheduled for Q1 next year, weather permitting, due to an increase in the scope of work on the development's floating production unit.

EnQuest said the increased work related to the refurbishment of the existing marine and process systems on the EnQuest Producer floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO).

EnQuest said it is considering moving the 248m-long FPSO, currently in port in Hamburg, to a yard closer to the field, for commissioning.

First oil had been scheduled for Q4 of this year.

The firm said most of the subsea installation work on the development, in 80m water depth, 310km south-east of Aberdeen in the central North Sea, is now complete.

Alma/Galia comprises seven production wells and two water injection wells, tied back to the EnQuest Producer, capable of processing 57,000 Boepd and storing 625,000 barrels of crude oil.

In February 2013, EnQuest announced that it was extending the field life of the project and that gross 2P reserves would be increased from 29MMboe to 34 MMboe.

The project will see the UK North Sea’s first producing field – Argyll – brought back to life.

Argyll was first discovered in 1971 and produced oil four years later, before being decommissioned twice over the subsequent decades.  EnQuest submitted a license application soon after IPO in 2010, in the 26th UK License Round.

EnQuest is operator of Alma/Galia, with partner Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) holding 35% equity.
