Dolphin secures drilling contracts

Dolphin Drilling, part of Fred. Olsen Energy ASA, signed contracts worth US$67 million for use of its Blackford Dolphin semisubmersible rig.

The Blackford Dolphin will drill one well a piece for MPX North Sea ltd in the UK sector and Cairn subsidiary Capricorn Ireland Ltd. off Ireland. Cairn's Ireland program was announced earlier today (July 9).

The first well in the UK is due to commence early 1Q 2014 following the rig’s mobilization from Brazil and completion of its five year class survey. The combined contract duration with MPX and Capricorn is expected to be around five months.
