Dr. Ramanan Krishnamoorti, petroleum engineering professor at the University of Houston, was also in attendance and delivered a message on the future challenges of elastomer sealing.

The facility includes office space, meeting rooms, a material testing and analysis laboratory (including high pressure test equipment), warehousing and a customer support center, will bring technical and performance benefits to those operating in the global oil and gas exploration market from bases in Houston.

Engineers and specifiers of high performance specialist elastomer seals used in oil and gas applications now have the opportunity to discuss projects face to face, and to work with PPE’s Houston-based engineering and materials team.

The company will be providing quick turn-a-round prototyping of seals for time critical applications, with all material testing carried out at the new facility.  All engineering led consultations, sales and customer support will be provided by engineers based in Houston. Customers will also benefit from the global reach provided by PPE from the company’s headquarters in the UK, providing a seamless link between customer projects in the US, Canada, Europe and beyond.

PPE will also be delivering regular courses on elastomer technology & seal design for oil and gas applications in the Houston facility’s training suite. The vision is to provide world class technical and engineering support focusing on solving advanced sealing problems, materials support and test facilities at the heart of the US oil and Gas industry.

“We have made a significant investment in the new Houston facility, both in capital equipment and experienced personnel which will further assist us in delivering our value proposition to this key oil and gas market,” said Gillyon.
