OTC.13: Hydratight launch torque tools

Market leading joint integrity specialist Hydratight has added five distinct pneumatic torque tools to its range of hydraulic torque wrenches.

When a powered bolting solution is needed for high torque fasteners, Hydratight’s pneumatic tools provide high performance and accurate torque control. The two speed gearbox design produces quick nut-run-down times.

Operators’ hand force is negligible with an output of 2Nm, 50% lower than existing market tooling.

Available for immediate order, the tool range has an air requirement of 24cfm, making each tool versatile and sets it apart from existing market offerings– which normally have air requirements up to 40 or 50cfm. Producing the lowest air requirement in the industry, Hydratight’s pneumatic torque range can be expanded and applied to more areas including remote field applications.

“The addition of the pneumatic torque series represents a development in Hydratight’s already impressive range of torque tools,” said Chad Brooks, Hydratight’s Global Product Manager.

“The ergonomic designed pistol grip swivel ensures the user can produce torque up to 5,000ft.lbs with minimal impact. We are pleased with how the product has performed in our extensive validation testing. This new range will sit comfortably within our existing portfolio of robust, reliable and market leading tooling. Our customers share this view and we have already received substantial orders for this tooling.

The two speed intermediate gear box expands the torque range of the tools from 300 to 5,000ft.lbs; this flexibility allows the user scope to use the tools in a wider range applications.  The tool also allows the user to torque an application in sequence without having to readjust the pressure setting.

The range will be available to see at Hydratight’s booth (4109), at the Offshore Technology Conference between the 6-9 May.
