Newbury joined Ocean Installer after serving as vice president for operations and business development at US-based subsea contractor Deep Down Inc. He has previously worked at Subsea 7 and Halliburton.

The Houston-based office, which the company called 'an important step' in its global expansion, has been registered under the name Ocean Installer Texas Inc. The Houston office will manage US-based projects for the company.

"(The move) is in line with our vision of becoming a key service provider in the global subsea market, and opening an US office has been a natural step," said Steinar Riise, CEO of Ocean Installer. "Michael Newbury was chosen as president due to his extensive managerial experience and long track record from the US subsea industry, and because of his ambition to develop Ocean Installer to become an established contractor also in the US."

Michael Newbury enters his new position in April 2013.
