Statoil and its Dagny partners Total and Det norske chose Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering to design and build topsides for North Sea platform, Statoil announced on 18 February 2013. The contract, which is subject to approval by Norwegian authories, is worth an estimated NOK 6.1 billion.

Aker Solutions in Stavanger and Oslo, Norway, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will be close partners in the detailed engineering services and offshore hook-up and commissioning. The contract comprises detailed design, procurement, engineering services, construction, hook-up and commissioning. The assignment will begin immediately and will be completed 1Q 2017.

"We're putting strong emphasis on avoiding late changes to the design and experienced Statoil personnel will follow-up the deliveries in all phases," said Jon Arnt Jacobsen, Statoil's chief procurement officer. "We're also drawing on experience from other projects in Norway and internationally."

Statoil and its partners submitted a plan for development and operation of Dagny field to Norway's Ministry of Petroleum and Energy at the end of 2012. Investments in the Dagny development are currently estimated at NOK 31 billion.

"Dagny is one of Statoil's new, major developments with an estimated 225 million barrels of oil equivalent," said Ivar Aasheim, senior vice president for field development on the Norwegian continental shelf. "This shows how important it is to explore and develop fields in mature areas with infrastructure in place. This field development is tied to Sleipner and will help to extend its lifetime for many years to come."

Statoil recently selected Maersk to provide producting drilling, Heerema Vlissingen to build Dagny's platform jacket and Allseas won a contract for pipelaying activities. The company expects to award contracts for the project's FPSO in the spring.

Statoil previously chose Aker Solutions to provide tie-in modifications on Sleipner, which will receive gas from the Dagny field. The company said DSME will award the contract to costruct Dagny's living quarters.
