Cotemar Group extends contracts for Prosafe semisubs at Cantarell field

Mexico’s Cotemar Group, a private company headquartered in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León, near Monterrey, has secured short contract extensions for three accommodation vessels from Prosafe SE. The three semisubmersibles have been working at Pemex’s Cantarell field. Bare-boat charter contracts for Safe Britannia, Safe Lancia, and Jasminia semisubmersibles have been extended until end-March, mid-September, and late May, respectively. The total value of these latest extensions is about US$21 million.

Safe Britannia has been operating at Cantarell since October 2003. The current contract rate is $85,000/day. The semisub was built in 1980 at the Gotaverken Arendal (GVA) yard in Sweden (Friede and Goldman enhanced Pacesetter design). It was upgraded in 1987, adding four stabilization columns, which increased the deckload area and payload capacity, and then underwent a major refurbishment in 2003. Safe Britannia, flagged in Singapore, is one of Prosafe’s largest accommodation vessels, with 812 beds and 104 workstations.

Safe Lancia, flagged in Singapore, has been operating at Cantarell since April 2003. The current contract rate is $66,000/day. The GVA 2000 semisub was built in 1984 at the GVA/Kockums yard in Sweden, has a 10-point wire-mooring system capable of station keeping in the harsh environments, and was upgraded in 2003 with a DP2 station-keeping system. Safe Lancia has 605 beds and 55 workstations.

Jasminia, flagged in Liberia, has been operating at Cantarell since October 2003. The current contract rate is $45,000/day. The GVA 2000 semisub was built in 1982, at the GVA yard in Sweden, and upgraded in 2002. It can accommodate 535 personnel.

Prosafe SE is an owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation and service rigs. The company operates globally, employs 550 people, and is headquartered in Larnaca, Cyprus.
