Well intervention specialist Subsea Technologies Ltd. (STL) was named the winner of the ‘New Enterprise’ category at the prestigious Subsea 2013 Industry Awards.

The seventh annual awards ceremony took place last night at the AECC and was attended by 850 people working in the subsea sector.

STL, which became a member of Subsea UK in 2012, entered the awards scheme for the first time this year. Key members from the STL team attended the ceremony, including Drummond Lawson, Managing Director, Dave McKay, Technical Director, and Chairman, Mark Vorencamp.

Speaking after the ceremony Lawson, who collected the award, said, “It is a real honour to receive this award from Subsea UK. It has been our goal since launching STL to create well intervention technologies which will be recognised by the industry as a step change in offshore safety and technical innovation. To be rewarded for this commitment in front of our industry peers demonstrates that we are some way towards achieving this aim.

“We have successfully built a client base of major oil operators and international service companies, delivering our products to Norway, the Gulf of Mexico and West Africa. We aim to maintain this level of export and continue to develop client relationships around the world in 2013.

“This year we will begin the process of broadening our focus beyond well intervention.  We plan to develop one of our key products, the unique Xtreme Release Connector, to meet the huge potential in the drilling riser market for emergency release of drilling risers from subsea BOPs without the usual release angle limitations. STL are currently inviting expressions of interest from any parties involved in the design or operation of drilling risers in both deep and shallow waters.”
