UTEC enlists Stenson and Laing for management
Independent offshore survey firm UTEC has announced the appointments of new general managers Jamie Laing and Andrew Stenson in Aberdeen, Scotland and Naples, Italy respectively.
The Naples office welcomes Andrew Stenson who holds 25 years’ experience in land, marine and transition zone surveys, working in a range of locations which include Europe, Africa, South America, Canada, Middle East as well as the Far East. His recent consultancy role allowed him to develop skills which include HSE management, financial budgeting and planning work progress, together with marketing and business development.
Commenting on his new role at UTEC, Andrew said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a company that projects strong, forward-looking growth and development strategies. UTEC is uniquely placed to support a wide range of services and clients in a truly global manner.”
Jamie Laing is based at UTEC’s new Aberdeen offices. Jamie joined the oil and gas Industry in 1988, quickly moving to the offshore survey sector as an offshore surveyor. Since 1990 he has accumulated more than 22 years’ management experience. Jamie joined UTEC in early 2009, initially working in the Middle East and then taking up the Survey Manager position in Aberdeen later that same year.
On his new role, Jamie said: “UTEC’s recent growth in both this region and globally has been impressive and being part of that growth has been a great experience. I now look forward to continuing the development and promotion of the UTEC brand and services in my new position.”
Managing director Kevin McBarron added: “Our focus on the growth of the business during 2012 created the requirement for this new role in Aberdeen and Jamie’s broad ranging personal skills meant he was the right man for the job.
“In Naples, the culmination of the year’s expansion plans led to the promotion of Carlo Pinto in the role of regional sales manager, so we are delighted that Andrew has accepted the general manager’s position to further strengthen the team in Italy.”
UTEC CEO Martin O’Carroll commented: “Bringing both Jamie and Andrew with their wealth of experience to the UTEC management team yet again demonstrates our commitment to building an exceptional team providing a credible alternative to incumbent regional survey providers.”
