Annulus Testing

Flexlife is providing independent assessment services worth up to $1.4 million for Petrobras' Cascade-Chinook subsea development in the Gulf of Mexico. The agreement involved annulus testing of the flexible risers, and work was to be carried out in late October and then every six months to ensure integrity of the risers.

Flexlife and Petrobras signed a memorandum of understanding in 2011. This is the first project awarded to Aberdeen-based Flexlife since then. 'Should any issues transpire after the initial testing, the contract provides the option to deploy some of our other technologies in order to remedy the issue including FlexGuard, FlexGel and Armadillo,' says Ciaran O'Donnell, CEO at Flexlife.

'We feel that Petrobras having access to the combined flexible riser expertise and products and services of Flexlife under this contract will be a huge plus in terms of assuring the safe long term operation of the riser system.'
