Houston facility tests GOM shale applications

VAM USA has plans to expand its Houston-based Connection Technology Center to 90,000 sq ft, doubling its R&D capacity, the company announced on 29 November 2012.

The facility will be used for harsh environment full-scale testing for shale applications in the Gulf of Mexico including make and break, simulation of combined loads, bending, high temperatures, and fatigue life. VAM said the facility will increase its ability to design, manufacture, inspect, and test several premium connections at once.

Construction was completed in July. VAM expects all equipment to be operational by year’s end.
