Bibby buys Toisa Polaris

Toisa Polaris

Bibby Offshore has purchased the dive support vessel Toisa Polaris, the Aberdeen-based company announced on 2 November 2012. Bibby said the move will provide as many as 60 North Sea jobs.

‘We are forecasting an increasing level of work in the region over the next year, which is why we are actively recruiting to expand the size of the team further still,' said Bibby Offshore's chief executive, Howard Woodcock. ‘Staff numbers are expected to continue increasing in line with growing demand for the company's offerings within the UK and globally.'

The DSV will be renamed the Bibby Polaris, the company said to retain the vessel's impressive reputation as well as recognize the new ownership. It joins Bibby's fleet of five subsea support vessels.

The purchase price was not disclosed; however, the subsea installation contract will finance the purchase through $85 million (£53 million) loan from Standard Chartered Bank.
