Worley Wins Gjøa EPCIC Work from Neptune

Neptune Energy said it has awarded contracts to Rosenberg Worley for modifications on the Neptune operated Gjøa semi-submersible platform.

The engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contracts, awarded under the existing Gjøa topside modification frame agreement signed with then-Rosenberg WorleyParsons in 2018, cover topside modifications to be carried out on the Gjøa platform as part of the Duva and Gjøa P1 projects in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

The modification contracts will last until 2021, and the services will be led and executed by Rosenberg Worley in Stavanger.

Neptune Energy Norge’s Managing Director Odin Estensen said, “This work is important in order to maintain the fast-track schedule for developing Duva and Gjøa P1 as subsea tiebacks to Gjøa. The project demonstrates our commitment to pursuing growth opportunities and further strengthens Gjøa’s position as a hub for the wider area.”

The Gjøa field (PL 153) was discovered in 1989, and a PDO was delivered and approved by the Norwegian authorities in 2007. The field is developed with five subsea templates tied to the Gjøa Semi-Submersible for processing and export. Production started in 2010. Oil is exported by pipeline to Mongstad and gas by pipeline to St. Fergus in the UK. The Gjøa P1 segment is located in the northern part of the Gjøa field. License partners include Neptune Energy Norge (30% and operator), Petoro AS (30%), Wintershall Norge AS (20%) OKEA (12%) and DEA Norge AS (8%).

The Duva field (PL 636) is located 6 kilometers northeast of the Gjøa field (12 kilometers from the Gjøa platform). The shortest distance to shore is 35 km. The discovery was made in production license 636 in August 2016 by drilling well 36 / 7-4. License partners include Neptune Energy Norge (30% and operator), Idemitsu Petroleum Norge AS (30%), Pandion Energy AS (20%) and Wellesley Petroleum AS (20%).

Both fields will be developed as fast-track subsea tiebacks to the Neptune operated Gjøa facilities. In April, TechnipFMC was awarded a contract covering the subsea equipment from the wellheads to the riser hang-off at Gjøa, including subsea templates, xmas trees, manifolds, production and gas lift pipelines, umbilicals, subsea structures and control systems) plus installation activities.

The engineering and fabrication works have commenced, and the first template will be installed in the third quarter of 2019 on the Duva field. The majority of the installation scope will be in 2020 with first oil targeted for in the fourth quarter of 2020.
