Sapura Energy Bags Multiple Contracts

Malaysia’s oilfield services player Sapura Energy said it has has clinched contracts worth a total of MYR 1 billion ($242 million) for several new oil patch deals and one – the company’s first – offshore wind contract.

The 10 new contracts are for its engineering and construction and drilling segments across Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and Australia, said a press release from the company.

In addition, the company has been selected for a frame agreement with Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) for fixed offshore structure works, the company said in a statement today.

Regarding the first offshore wind farm contract, the statement said, "Sapura Offshore Sdn Bhd (Sapura Offshore) has been awarded a contract by Yunneng Wind Power Co. Ltd. for the provision of Transportation and Installation (T&I) of offshore wind turbine substructures."

The scope consists of transportation and installation of substructures (foundations) for offshore wind turbines at the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan, it said.

For its Drilling segment, Sapura Drilling Asia Sdn Bhd won a contract from Sarawak Shell Berhad and Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Limited for the provision of its semi tender-assisted drilling rig, Sapura Esperanza.

The scope comprises the provision of its semi-submersible tender assisted drilling rig services or the F14 field, offshore Malaysia, for two wells with multiple extension periods cumulating to 17 additional wells in aggregate.

Sapura Drilling Asia also secured a contract from PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd for the provision of its tender-assisted drilling rig, Sapura T-10, for the West Lutong Drilling Program. The contract covers drilling rig services for four wells at the West Lutong Field, with extension options of one-plus-one well.

Additionally, Sapura Drilling Asia Limited, has been awarded a contract by Chevron Thailand Exploration & Production Limited for the provision Sapura T-18. The work entails tender-assisted drilling rig services offshore Thailand.

Sapura Offshore has been awarded with a contract for the provision of T&I of subsea flexible pipelines and risers for the Layang Development Project by JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration (Malaysia) Limited. The Layang field, located offshore Sarawak, Malaysia, is developed from an unmanned wellhead platform connected with a subsea flexible pipeline to a floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO).

Sapura Projects Pty Ltd secured a contract from Cooper Energy Limited for the provision of subsea services associated with repairs of the subsea umbilical system for the Casino Henry and Netherby Electrical Umbilical Backbone Repair Project in offshore western Victoria, Australia. The contract includes the modification of existing and installation of the new subsea umbilical and ancillary appurtenances from Casino 5 UTA to Netherby, which form part of the Casino Henry and Netherby Electrical Backbone Repair project.

Meanwhile, in the Gulf of Thailand, Sapura Energy (Thailand) Limited was awarded two contracts by PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) and PTTEP International Limited (PTTEPI).
