Siemens said it has signed a five-year frame agreement with BP to support the UK supermajor as one of its main electrical contractors for future onshore and offshore upstream projects globally.
The deal allows BP access to Siemens technology, including the company’s digitization services with the goal of further developing environmentally friendly and safe operations.
The agreement reflects a strengthened collaboration between BP and Siemens where Siemens will provide design and engineering services utilizing BP’s Internet of Things supported integrated engineering tools and components that are adapted to work together in a total solution. This allows BP and Siemens to jointly develop innovative, cost-effective solutions and improved scheduling to BP - on time and with lower risk, Siemens said.
In addition to design and engineering services, Siemens will assume full responsibility for procurement and supply, installation support, project management and commissioning support for electrical distribution systems on BP projects that may be awarded to Siemens under the agreement.
