Brazilian petroleum giant Petróleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) has contracted Seadrill’s drillship West Tellus for a new two-year program offshore Brazil.
Seadrill, a deepwater drilling contractor for the petroleum industry, said in a press note that the likely contract value is around $170 million, including managed pressure drilling and ancillary services.
Operations are due to start in the current quarter, in direct continuation of the vessel’s current contract with Petrobras.
West Tellus is a 6th generation DP3 drillship rated for 3,600m water depth. It was built in 2013 by Samsung Shipyard in South Korea.
