Sovcomflot Postpones Vessel Redelivery

Russian shipping giant Sovcomflot (SCF) will not be returning the Vyacheslav Tikhonov seismic vessel to Polarcus as previously agreed.

Polarcus Limited, the UAE-based offshore geophysical company operating a fleet of seismic research vessels worldwide, said that the redelivery of the vessel was postponed until January 15, 2020, while potential projects are pursued by SCF.

In a press release, Polarcus refers to its announcement dated 1 October 2019 regarding the expected redelivery of Vyacheslav Tikhonov (originally named 'Polarcus Selma')  with effect from completion of the wide-azimuth project in the Americas (previously announced on 3 June 2019).

It has been agreed with Sovcomflot to postpone the scheduled redelivery of the Vessel until 15 January 2020 while potential projects are pursued by SCF. The Vessel will remain under the ‘charter back’ to a Polarcus subsidiary during this period on amended terms.

The vessel is an 8-streamer, arctic capable 3D seismic research vessel of the ULSTEIN SX133 design. It can deploy eight streamers each of 6,000 meters length, or six streamers each of 8,000 meters length.
